Auto-Hold Mailings For Review
Getting Started
This guide outlines several methods for pausing jobs within your LetterStream account. These options can be useful for review, approval workflows, or preventing jobs from being mailed automatically.

- Account-Wide Auto-Hold Setting
- Leaving Jobs in “Please Review” Status
- Manually Holding Individual Jobs
- User-Level Auto-Hold Setting
Account-Wide Auto-Hold Setting
You can request that LetterStream place your entire account into auto-Hold status. When this setting is enabled:
- Every job loaded into the system will be automatically placed on hold.
- Jobs must be manually released before they will be processed or mailed.
Recommended for: Organizations that want central control over every mailing.
Leaving Jobs in “Please Review” Status
If you want to delay a job from being processed without placing it on hold:
- Simply do not approve the job after uploading.
- Jobs remain in “Please Review” status until someone:
- Returns to the dashboard
- Clicks on the job
- Completes the approval steps (proofs, recipient count, etc.)
Benefits:
- Job details can be edited as needed
- Recipients can still be removed during this phase.
- Deleted recipients are held in memory until final approval.
Manually Holding Individual Jobs
You can manually place a job on hold after it's been created:
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Locate the job and click EDIT to the right of the Job ID.
- Click the Pause Job option.
Note: This method requires manual intervention for each job and is best for occasional use.
User-Level Auto-Hold Setting
Administrators within your organization can set specific users to auto-Hold:
- All jobs created by those users will automatically be placed on hold.
- This is helpful when onboarding new users or overseeing job quality.
- The auto-Hold setting can be removed once oversight is no longer needed.
This can be set by any administrator within your LetterStream account on the Manage Users page.
