Why a U.S. Return Address Is Required

  • LetterStream uses a postal permit (indicia) to submit mail.
  • USPS rules require that all mail sent this way includes a valid return address from one of the 50 U.S. states.
  • This helps ensure mail is properly handled and returned if undeliverable.

What Happens If Your Return Address Is Invalid

Your mailing may be delayed or held if:

  • No return address is included
  • A deceptive or fictional return address is used
  • The return address is located outside the United States
