Envelope Sheet Capacity
Getting Started
This guide explains the sheet capacity for different envelope types and how your mailing may be automatically upgraded if it exceeds certain limits. We don't technically have document sheet limits, but your mailings may be upgraded to a larger envelope or box shipment depending on sheet count.
In This Article
Standard #10 Envelope Capacity
- Maximum: Up to 15 sheets of 8.5" x 11" 20lb paper
- Best For: Small mailings within the 15-sheet limit
- If your job exceeds this, your envelope will automatically be upgraded to a larger flat envelope
Large Flat Envelope Capacity
- 8.5" x 11" 20lb paper: Up to 75 sheets
- 8.5" x 14" legal-sized paper: Up to 55 sheets
- Best For: Higher volume mailings or those using legal-size documents
Automatic Upgrade - Box shipment: If your mailing exceeds these limits, it will be packaged in a sealed cardboard box.
- First-Class Mail box shipments: No tracking
- Certified Mail box shipments: Automatically upgraded to USPS Priority Certified Mail with tracking
(Note: USPS Priority box shipments cannot be selected manually; it only applies when the mailing exceeds flat envelope limits, at which point our system will automatically upgrade it.)
Optimizing Document Layout
To reduce the number of physical sheets used:
- Use duplex printing (prints on both sides of each sheet)
- Example: A 150-page PDF printed duplex will use 75 sheets, fitting within flat envelope limits
