Address Mapping
Getting Started
When uploading an address list to create a mailing in LetterStream, you’ll be guided through a address mapping process. This step ensures the system correctly interprets the information in each column of your file.

How Column Mapping Works
After uploading your CSV address list, you’ll arrive at a column mapping screen. Here, you identify what each column in your file represents, such as:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Address Line 1
- Address Line 2
- City
- State
- Zip Code
Each column must be matched with the correct data type to ensure successful mailing.
Automatic vs. Manual Mapping
If your CSV column headers are clearly labeled (e.g., "FirstName", "Address1", "City"), LetterStream will try to automatically match them to the correct fields.
However, if a column is unclear or labeled differently (e.g., "State" instead of "ST"), the system might not map it correctly. In such cases, you will need to manually select the appropriate field.
Adjusting Mappings Manually
To make manual adjustments:
- Locate the dropdown menu next to the column in question.
- Click the dropdown and choose the correct field (e.g., "State").
- Repeat this for any column the system did not auto-map correctly.
