Getting Started

At this time, LetterStream does not support what the USPS refers to as Ancillary Service Endorsements. These services are designed to help senders receive forwarding information or address corrections for undeliverable mail.

What Are Ancillary Service Endorsements?

Ancillary Service Endorsements are special USPS designations printed on mail pieces that instruct the Postal Service on how to handle undeliverable items.

USPS Definitions

The USPS website outlines the following Ancillary Service Endorsements:

  1. Address Service Requested
    • Forwarding and address correction are provided when possible.
    • If undeliverable and not forwardable, the mail is returned with a reason.
  2. Change Service Requested
    • Provides address correction only—mail is not forwarded or returned.
    • If undeliverable, the sender receives either the new address or a reason for non-delivery.
  3. Return Service Requested
    • Mail is always returned to the sender.
    • Address correction is provided on the returned mail piece.

What to Expect When Using LetterStream

LetterStream does not currently offer these USPS handling options. As a result:

  • We are unable to request address corrections, forwarding instructions, or automatic returns on your behalf.
  • If these services are critical for your mailing strategy, we recommend reviewing USPS mailing options directly.
