Include Tracking Numbers Directly On Document
Feel free to use our PDF PreFlight tool to see exactly where this information will be placed.
This option is a little more technical, but if done properly, will allow you to capture a tracking number from your proofs and then manually add it to your other documents, then you can upload your final document with the tracking numbers included.
If these steps aren't followed exactly the original tracking number that shows in your proofs will be changed to a new number, and therefore will no longer match the number that was entered onto your other document(s). Please note that this will only work for single recipient mailings.
- Login to your account and click Send Letter(s)
- Select the LetterStream Address Book option for your recipient addresses
- For the mailtype, the Certified Mail option and the Add Certified Electronic Return Receipt option must both be selected (this option will not work if the signature option is not selected).
- Click continue and follow the job building process
- Once you get to the Job Inserts Review page, add a sample document and then click Continue to Recipient Review
- Review the proof, and take note of the tracking number (such as a screenshot)
- Add this tracking number to your actual document that will be mailed, then navigate back to the Job Inserts Review page and replace the sample document with the actual document you'd like to mail out
- Continue back to the proofs and ensure the tracking number is the same on the coverpage and your document, then click continue
- Finally, make sure the option that says "Remove Certified Return Receipt" is NOT selected, becuase this will change the service type that your tracking number will need to show, so removing the signature at this point will change the tracking number. Continue to your shopping cart
From there, you can pay for your mailing when you wish to. After payment be sure to check the proofs once more to ensure the tracking information is the same, and that it still matches the tracking number that was placed onto your documents.
