What Is Business Reply Mail?

Business Reply Mail (BRM) allows your recipients to return mail without needing to pay for postage themselves. You are charged postage only when the envelope is returned to you.

Designing a Compliant BRM Envelope

To ensure proper delivery, your BRM envelope must follow strict USPS formatting requirements:

  • Visit the USPS website to design your BRM envelope using their official tools.
  • Ensure the envelope is sized as a #9 return envelope (8.88" x 3.88").
  • Use the crop marks provided in the USPS-generated artwork to properly size your final file.

Note: Envelopes not formatted to USPS specs may be mailed but are likely to fail during delivery.

Uploading Your BRM Envelope

Once your BRM envelope artwork is finalized:

  1. Log into your LetterStream account.
  2. Go to the Inserts Review page of your mailing.
  3. Click Add Envelope.
  4. Scroll down to Upload a New Custom Envelope.
  5. Upload the PDF file of your BRM envelope.

Your BRM envelope will now be included in your mailing and processed correctly.
