Affidavit of Mailing

Getting Started

An Affidavit of Mailing can serve as formal proof that a document was mailed. While often not required—especially for Certified Mail with USPS tracking—LetterStream offers this service when needed. This guide outlines qualifications, requirements, pricing, and delivery details.

What Is an Affidavit of Mailing?

While your LetterStream account includes various ways to verify mailings (such as mailing history and recipient proofs), our standard Affidavit of Mailing provides a formal, written statement attesting that a mailing occurred.

Note: If your document was sent via USPS Certified Mail, tracking and signature data often suffice as an affidavit may not be necessary.

Eligibility Requirements

If you require an Affidavit of Mailing, you can request it through our Chatbot by including your email address and reason for the affidavit.

Please allow up to 10 business days per affidavit for providing the document(s) after your request has been approved.

We cannot provide an affidavit if:

  • Your account has the document purge option enabled.
  • Your account is disabled.
  • The request comes from someone who is not the job creator or an account administrator.
  • Other factors, such as length of time since mailing or if the job lacks sufficient data for verification.

Pricing Breakdown

Payment will be added to your LetterStream account and must be completed before the affidavit is released.

Affidavit of Mailing costs are itemized as follows:

  • Base Fee: $74
  • Notarization Fee: $25 (optional)

Total Cost Range: $74 to $99 per mailing, depending on selected options. A separate affidavit is created for each unique mailing.

How the Affidavit Is Delivered

Once your request is approved:

  1. LetterStream begins researching and compiling the affidavit.
  2. When complete, the affidavit—along with any supporting documents—is emailed to you.
  3. You can then access, download, or print the documents from your email.
