Information Is Being Stripped From My Document
Getting Started
This article explains why some information in your document may appear to be missing or stripped after uploading and how to prevent this issue.

Why This Happens
Information can disappear from your document if:
Information Is Not Embedded
If your PDF relies on information that is not embedded, the document may appear correctly on your computer but look different or lose data when processed by LetterStream.
Layered or Complex Elements
Elements such as annotations, layers, or advanced graphic effects sometimes don’t render correctly when the PDF is flattened or processed.
How to Resolve the Issue
To avoid information being stripped:
- Embed All Information
- Flatten Layers
- Flatten any layers or annotations to ensure all content becomes part of the main document.
- Save As a New PDF
- Re-save your document as a new PDF to remove hidden elements or unnecessary metadata.
Additional Tips
- Check the PDF Before Uploading
- Open the PDF on a different computer to see if any content is missing or substituted. You can try to select and modify fonts in fillable fields to see if the information changes. If you can edit information in a PDF when it isn't an editing mode then it could be due to unembedded information.
- Use Standard Fonts When Possible
- Common fonts are less likely to cause issues.
- Avoid Relying on External References
- Make sure all images and fonts are embedded directly in the file and not linked externally.
- Proofing your Mailings
- Each recipient proof will show exactly what will be printed and should be reviewed before the job is paid for.
